बता दें, इस मैच में दोनों टीम के गेंदबाजों ने काफी शानदार गेंदबाजी की और बल्लेबाजों को अपने ऊपर हावी नहीं होने दिया। इस पहले टेस्ट मैच में मेजबान ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने टॉस जीतकर पहले बल्लेबाजी का फैसला किया। दक्षिण अफ्रीका ने अपनी पहली पारी में सभी विकेट खोकर मात्र 152 रन बनाए। टीम की ओर से काइल वेरेयेने ने 96 गेंदों में आठ चौके और एक छक्के की मदद से 64 रन की पारी खेली जबकि टेम्बा बवूमा ने 38 रन बनाए।
ऑस्ट्रेलिया की ओर से मिचेल स्टार्क और नाथन लियोन ने 3-3 विकेट झटके जबकि स्कॉट बोलैंड और पैट कमिंस ने दो-दो विकेट अपने नाम किए। इसके बाद ऑस्ट्रेलिया अपनी पहली पारी में सभी विकेट खोकर 218 रन ही बना पाई। टीम की ओर से ट्रेविस हेड ने 92 रन की महत्वपूर्ण पारी खेली। दक्षिण अफ्रीका की ओर से तेज़ गेंदबाज़ कगिसो रबाडा ने 4 विकेट झटके जबकि मार्को जानसेन ने 3 विकेट अपने नाम किए।
ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने 6 विकेट से जीता पहला टेस्ट मैच
इसके बाद दक्षिण अफ्रीका के बल्लेबाज दूसरी पारी में भी बड़ा स्कोर बनाने में नाकाम रहे और उनकी टीम 99 रन पर ऑलआउट हो गई। खाया ज़ोंडो ने सर्वाधिक 36 रन की नाबाद पारी खेली। ऑस्ट्रेलिया की ओर से कप्तान पैट कमिंस ने 5 विकेट झटके जबकि मिचेल स्टार्क और स्कॉट बोलैंड ने 2-2 विकेट अपने नाम किए।
ऑस्ट्रेलिया को 34 रन का लक्ष्य मिला था जिसको उन्होंने 6 विकेट रहते हासिल कर लिया। ट्रेविस हेड को प्लेयर ऑफ द मैच अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया गया। तीन मुकाबलों की टेस्ट सीरीज में मेजबान ऑस्ट्रेलिया 1-0 से आगे है। अब दोनों टीमों के बीच दूसरा टेस्ट मुकाबला मेलबर्न में 26 दिसंबर से शुरू होगा जबकि तीसरा टेस्ट मैच 4 जनवरी से सिडनी में खेला जाएगा। दक्षिण अफ्रीका भी अब जबरदस्त वापसी करने को देखेगी।

The only positive with the Brisbane pitch is both teams have pace attacks that have a similar advantage on it. Exciting and interesting in that aspect as a one off, but don't want to see it for another 10 years. #AUSvSA #cricket
