दक्षिण अफ्रीका क्रिकेट टीम के खिलाड़ी एबी डी विलियर्स क्रिकेट जगत के एक महान खिलाड़ी है जिनके सामने कोई भी गेंदबाज़ खुद को नहीं बचा सकता है. एबी डी विलियर्स को पूरा क्रिकेट जगत 360 डिग्री के खिलाड़ी के रूप में पहचानता है और इसका कारण उनका गेंद को मैदान के किसी भी छोर पर मारने की है.
साल 2004 में अपने क्रिकेट करियर की शुरुआत करने वाले एबी डी विलियर्स ने उस समय अपने करियर को हर मैच के बाद उपर ले जाने का काम किया लेकिन आज 23 मई को उन्होंने अपने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट करियर से पूरी तरह सन्यास ले लिया है.
साउथ अफ्रीका टीम को जुलाई महीने में श्रीलंका का दौरा करना है जहाँ पर उसे टेस्ट, वनडे और टी-20 सीरीज में खेलना और ऐबी डी विलियर्स के सन्यास लेने से टीम का काफी तगड़ा झटका लगा है. 114 टेस्ट मैच, 228 वनडे और 78 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय टी-20 मैच डी विलियर्स ने खेले है. डी विलियर्स के नाम पर 47 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अष्टक और 109 अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अर्धशतक दर्ज़ है.
करियर के कुछ महत्वपूर्ण क्षण
भारत के खिलाफ 2008 में अहमदाबाद टेस्ट मैच में डी विलियर्स ने पहला दोहरा शतक मारा था. 2010 में पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ आबू धाबी में टेस्ट सीरीज के दौरान करियर का सर्वाधिक स्कोर 278 रन बनाएं. वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ साल 2016 में सबसे तेज़ शतक वनडे में सिर्फ 31 गेंदों में लग दिया था वांडर्स के मैदान पर. एबी ने तीन विश्वकप 2007, 2011 और 2015 में खेले है.
34 साल के डी विलियर्स कुछ समय पहले इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग में आरसीबी टीम से खेल रहे थे. उन्होंने टीम के लिए कुछ मैच विनिंग पारियां खेलकर अपने दम पर जीत दिलाने में अहम भूमिका निभायीं. एबी डी विलियर्स के सन्यास लेने के बाद ट्विटर पर फैन्स खुद को प्रतिक्रिया देने से रोक नहीं सके क्योंकि किसी को भी उनके सन्यास के निर्णय पर विश्वास नहीं हो रहा था.
