इंग्लैंड और भारत के बीच ओवल के मैदान पर खेला जा रहा सीरीज का चौथा टेस्ट मैच अब बेहद रोमांचक स्थिति में पहुंच चुका है। जहां शुरुआती 2 दिन के खेल के बाद मेजबान टीम की पकड़ थोड़ी मजबूत थी, तो वहीं तीसरे दिन के खेल में भारतीय टीम ने सिर्फ 3 विकेट गंवाते हुए 171 रनों की बढ़त हासिल कर ली है। भारतीय टीम ने तीसरे दिन का अंत 270 रन 3 विकेट के नुकसान के साथ किया।
पहले सत्र में गंवाया सिर्फ राहुल का विकेट
तीसरे दिन की अच्छी शुरुआत करने की सबसे बड़ी जिम्मेदारी लोकेश राहुल और रोहित शर्मा के ऊपर थी। दोनों ने शुरुआती 1 घंटे के खेल में काफी संभलकर खेलते हुए इंग्लैंड के तेज गेंदबाजों को विकेट हासिल नहीं करने दिया, जिसके बाद राहुल ने थोड़ा आक्रामक रुख अपनाते हुए एक छोर से तेजी से रन बनाना शुरू किया।
लेकिन जैसे ही वह 46 के स्कोर पर पहुंचे तो जेम्स एंडरसन की एक शानदार गेंद पर वह अपना विकेट गंवा बैठे। इसके बाद मैदान पर बल्लेबाजी के लिए उतरे चेतेश्वर पुजारा ने बेहद सकारात्मक खेल दिखाते हुए कमजोर गेंदों पर प्रहार किया और लंच के समय तक रोहित के साथ मिलकर स्कोर को 1 विकेट के नुकसान पर 108 रन तक ले गए।
रोहित का आया शानदार शतक
ओवल टेस्ट मैच के तीसरे दिन के दूसरे सत्र में रोहित शर्मा के टेस्ट करियर का सबसे लंबा इंतजार खत्म हुआ। इस सत्र की शुरुआत से दोनों ही बल्लेबाजों ने शानदार तरीके से लगातार रन बनाने का कोई भी मौका नहीं छोड़ा तो वहीं रोहित ने पहले अपना अर्धशतक पूरा किया।
इसके बाद उन्होंने और भी आक्रामक अंदाज अपनाते हुए तेजी के साथ रन बटोरना शुरू कर दिया। वह तेजी के साथ अपने पहले विदेशी टेस्ट शतक की तरफ बढ़ चुके थे और चायकाल से थोड़ा पहले रोहित शर्मा ने मोईन अली की गेंद पर छक्का लगाते हुए इस सीरीज में अपना पहला टेस्ट शतक पूरा किया। तीसरे दिन के दूसरे सत्र का अंत होने पर भारतीय टीम का स्कोर 1 विकेट के नुकसान पर 199 रन हो चुका था।
दिन के आखिरी सत्र में इंग्लैंड ने की वापसी
तीसरे दिन के आखिरी सत्र का खेल शुरू होते ही रोहित और पुजारा ने अपने उसी अंदाज में बल्लेबाजी करना जारी रखा जिसके बाद पुजारा ने इस सीरीज में अपना दूसरा अर्धशतक भी पूरा किया। जैसे ही इंग्लैंड को दूसरी नई गेंद मिली, उससे ओली रॉबिंसन ने पहले ही ओवर में कमाल दिखा दिया और पहले रोहित शर्मा को 127 तथा उसके बाद पुजारा को 61 के निजी स्कोर पर पवेलियन भेजते हुए भारतीय टीम का स्कोर 237 के स्कोर पर 3 विकेट कर दिया था।
हालांकि, इसके बाद कप्तान विराट कोहली ने रवींद्र जडेजा के साथ मिलकर खराब रोशनी की वजह से दिन का अंत खत्म होने तक कोई और झटका नहीं लगने दिया। तीसरे दिन का अंत होने पर भारतीय टीम का स्कोर 3 विकेट के नुकसान पर 270 रन पहुंच चुका था, जिसमें कोहली 22 और जडेजा 9 रन बनाकर नाबाद थे।
