28 मई को पुणे के महाराष्ट्र क्रिकेट एसोसिएशन स्टेडियम में खेले गए महिला टी-20 चैलेंज 2022 के फाइनल में सुपरनोवा ने वेलोसिटी को चार रनों से मात देकर अपना तीसरा खिताब जीता। इससे पहले सुपरनोवा ने साल 2018 और 2019 में महिला टी-20 चैलेंज जीता था।
सुपरनोवा बनी तीसरी बार चैंपियन
वेलोसिटी ने टॉस जीतकर सुपरनोवा को पहले बल्लेबाजी करने का न्यौता दिया। पहले बल्लेबाजी करने उतरी सुपरनोवा को प्रिया पुनिया (28) और डिएंड्रा डॉटिन (62) ने अच्छी शुरूआत दी, जिसके बाद कप्तान हरमनप्रीत कौर (43) ने बेहतरीन पारी खेलते हुए सुपरनोवा को बोर्ड पर 20 ओवरों में सात विकेट के नुकसान पर 165 रन पोस्ट करने में मदद की। वहीं वेलोसिटी के लिए केट क्रॉस, दीप्ति शर्मा और सिमरन बहादुर ने दो-दो विकेट झटके।
जीत के लिए 166 रनों का पीछा करने उतरी वेलोसिटी ने 9 ओवरों के भीतर ही अपने चार विकेट खो दिए, जिसमें शेफाली वर्मा (15), यास्तिका भाटिया (13), किरण नवगीरे (0), और नत्थाकन चंतम (6) शामिल है। हालांकि, शीर्ष क्रम के निराश किए जाने के बाद लौरा वोल्वार्ड्टो ने वेलोसिटी के लिए 5 चौकों और 3 छक्कों की मदद से 40 गेंदों में नाबाद 66 रनों की शानदार पारी खेली और अंत में सिमरन बहादुर (नाबाद 20) ने उनका साथ बखूबी निभाया।
लेकिन सुपरनोवा को गेंदे कम पड़ गई, और वे महिला टी-20 चैलेंज 2022 का फाइनल सुपरनोवा से चार रनों से हार गए, और इसके साथ ही हरमनप्रीत कौर की अगुवाई वाली टीम तीसरी बार चैंपियन बनी। सुपरनोवा के लिए सर्वाधिक तीन विकेट अलाना किंग ने लिए, जबकि सोफी एक्लेस्टोन और डिएंड्रा डॉटिन को दो-दो सफलताएं मिली।
